Title: Towny!
Post by: Philip on December 19, 2011, 01:28:55 am
We got the towny plugin!

Only citizens and above will be able to create a town or nation, or join a town.

Any sort of Staff or Donator cannot own a town or nation. I have put much thought into this and realized it would cause major imbalance in the towny system.

Check out the wiki here:

Aww thats not fair i've spent most of my time making a town on minecraft.
Could i make it a town after my creative has run out?
Its the reason i got creative in the first place.

yes. Also, my statement for donators not being able to make towns was mostly temporary, the permanent solution will be something where you won't collect any taxes until your donator runs out. But what I said about Donators and Staff not being able to run Nations was permanent until the donator runs out.

So those of us that are like to keep donating (if the uptime improves) cant run proper towns? I want to set up a proper towny town, however i wouldn't charge whether i was a donator or not... Possible exceptions to the rule? xD

The following will probably apply to staff too at some point, but be4 either staff or donator can start using this exception, i need to figure out how to configure towny.

Don't look at it that way xD. It's just i'm trying to find a way to make this balanced because I don't want donator towns becoming extremely powerful / not taxing normal ppl. Towny is more economy oriented than u'd think, especially as you go more in depth.

It does that because the freaking town prices are wayy too high.
With towny, when a town runs out of funds to pay the taxes.
The land that was once where the town is starts destroying the town.
If you lower the tax, phil for towny this wont happen.

Few questions:
After we create a town, we can theoretically change pvp/mobs/etc... on the town land to true/false/etc... When I created one and tried to change them, it said It wasn't allowed due to global configurations. Is this supposed to be like this?

Two days ago Hoc was triying to fix the pvp arena, using world guard to turn on pvp in it, but it also did work. Same problem?

Finnaly, the town upkeep is it per plot? and when is the money "payed"?

ty,
Alex

Also, /accept to accept a town member invite doesn't work.
Questioner plugin is broken i think.

The taxes are taken from your balance every 24 hours in real life.

that's probably because the server can only have one ip.. 99.233.242.240
the server is up and has been up since christmas eve/day :P, with 0 downtime.

I'll go in to the config and see if i can make it so u can edit pvp etc. But i don't think ill let u change the mobs that spawn cause i think that'll be imba.

World guard and pvp will only work if pvp everywhere is on, and then areas are made with world guard where pvp is off, disallowing pvp.

The town taxes are per person in the town, once per day.

You van turn on the pvp everywhere in the server config and then set the world guard global pvp flag to deny. That way pvp is turned off everywhere except in areas that you define, like the pvp arena. That would be the world guard approach, but still wouldn't work with towny.

Towny way you could set the server cofig pvp on and then set it so that the towny "wilderness" has pvp disabled. Then you make pvp arena's warzones and problem solved.

Alex
